Thoughts Clothed in Words: Classical Rhetoric from a Biblical Worldview

Shaunna K. Howat and Tyler Howat

Shaunna is a retired writer and teacher of Rhetoric for Christian schools and homeschool high school students. Our text books, Biblical Worldview Rhetoric I and Biblical Worldview Rhetoric II, were published summer 2010. The revised edition, titled Thoughts Clothed in Words, with its accompanying discourse text, The Art of Fitting Expression, were published in 2018 and are available on Amazon.com. A Figures of Speech workbook will be coming soon in 2026.

Shaunna and her husband are “empty nesters” living in northern California and pretending to be hobby farmers. They have three adult children (Tyler, her co-author, is one of them), and four grandchildren. Shaunna writes and teaches Bible studies.

Tyler Howat, M.A., has been a teacher for 17 years, both internationally and across the United States. He is currently the Principal at The River Academy in Wenatchee, WA, where he lives with his wife. They enjoy reading, writing, music, film, and fellowship together. He is the co-author of Thoughts Clothed in Words and The Art of Fitting Expression, a classical rhetoric curriculum.

Who we are and why we do what we do: we are sinners saved by the grace of an almighty God, creator of heaven and earth. We did not deserve His grace, but He gave it anyway, because of the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ, poured out for us.

  2. Hi, I’m working on my thesis and liked your article about CS Lewis and fantasy literature. However, in order to cite I need a name and I can’t seem to find one. Is there one you’d like me to use?
    Thanks!
